Direct Vision Standard (DVS)

Launched in October 2019 and put into force on 1 March 2021, the Direct Vision Standard has been designed to make the streets of London safer for pedestrians and cyclists. This affects vehicles exceeding 12 tonne GVW that enter London and is enforced across areas including the M25.

The Direct Vision Standard (DVS) is a rating system that measures how much a driver of a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) can see directly through their cab windows. The level of visibility is rated from zero to five stars and the assessment takes into account factors like the size and shape of the vehicle, the position of the driver’s cab, and the design of the mirrors and windows.

Under these regulations, it is the responsibility of businesses to know the requirements of this legislation. We can help guide you through compliance and provide you with suggested safety equipment.

Fleet Operator Recognition System (FORS)

FORS aims to improve standards within fleet operations and highlight those operators achieving exceptional levels of best practice in safety, efficiency and environmental protection.

The FORS Standard defines the requirements that operators must meet in order to attain and maintain FORS accreditation and is a voluntary scheme for fleet operators.

We can help you achieve the desired level of vehicle safety equipment to meet the requirements for Bronze, Silver or Gold accreditation, enabling you to hold a mark of quality for your products and services and boost sales opportunities.

Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS)

CLOCS is a national industry standard that promotes good practice beyond basic legal compliance. It’s primary aim is to ensure safety for vehicles servicing construction projects and vulnerable road users.

It’s a collaboration between the construction and fleet sectors and provides a framework to ensure both work together on codes, policies and best practices to improve safety standards.

FORS and CLOCS work together to keep compliance simple and we can provide advice to ensure you meet the standards and requirements.
